March 2023: ELPL Turns 100 Years Old!
The East Lansing Public Library turns 100 in 2023! The library is planning big and exciting celebrations throughout the year. ELPL is throwing a big birthday party on March 11, 2023 from 11am-2pm. The library will be celebrating in style with food, activities, community collaborations, and more! It’s truly going to be an extravaganza, and you won’t want to miss it. For more information on the 100th anniversary celebrations, stay tuned to the library’s social media, and check back to our website at elpl.org. ELPL is thrilled to have spent a whole century serving the community we love; we are looking forward to the next 100 years!
In addition to the birthday party, ELPL has other festivities planned throughout the year. To kick off our celebrations, the library is hosting the Centennial Book Club, and each month a book published in a different decade from the last 100 years will be read and discussed. The first book is from the 1920s, Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. The first meeting will be on January 30, from 7-8pm in the library. Snacks will be provided.
Also in March the library will be featuring a series on social media that explores ELPL’s storied history. Whether you recently discovered ELPL or have been a patron all your life, this series will have something for everyone.
